Income Inequality

Income inequality is commonly defined as how unevenly income is distributed through a population. Many strategies for economic growth do not benefit low-income populations and can even increase income inequality. Effective economic development must therefore address income inequality and ensure that all persons are benefiting directly from economic growth.
