Transportation

Access to affordable transportation is a key factor in the ability of an individual or family to manage and overcome experiences of low-income and poverty. Some of the benefits of affordable transportation are: increased employment opportunities and job security; increased budgets for other basic needs; greater access to education and employment training; improved health outcomes by providing access to medical facilities and appointments; reduced social exclusion and enhanced quality of life (Beveridge, 2016). The resources in this section explore the nuances and impacts of affordable transportation for people living in poverty.
